NUTRIR, was founded over 20 years ago by a group of Colombian businessmen concerned about the poor nutritional state and health of disadvantaged children in Bogotá. Today, the Fundación Colombiana para la Nutrición Infantil (Colombian Foundation for Childhood Nutrition) or NUTRIR, a non-profit organization, provides nutritional assistance to a total of over 1,200 children in northeastern neighborhoods of the city.

Young boys and girls with serious nutritional and social problems attend NUTRIR's centers, where they receive two meals per day, periodic nutritional evaluations and support for their families, as well as participate in tutoring sessions, and recreational and sports activities.

The neighborhoods served by NUTRIR, all of them in the area of Usaquén, are victims of extreme poverty and the influx of thousands of people displaced by violence from the countryside. According to the government, close to 450,000 people live in Usaquén; 11% of them, or 49,000, do not have running water, electricity or sewage, and 10,000 live in extreme poverty. A preliminary study of 212 children in one of NUTRIR's centers showed that 9.5% of them suffer from acute malnutrition, 14% from chronic malnutrition, and 29% is at risk of falling into that category.

With Genesis’ support, NUTRIR is finishing construction on its third center, "Centro Sueños y Aventuras Génesis": "Genesis Dreams and Adventures Center."
