The Fundación Neumológica Colombiana is a private, non-profit foundation focused on the treatment of, education, and research on pulmonary and respiratory illnesses. Since its founding at the beginning of the 1990's in Bogotá, the FNC has become Colombia's primary institution focusing on the prevention of conditions affecting the respiratory system. It is also regarded as one of Latin America's leading organizations in its field.

With over 30 medical professionals specialized in the treatment of adults and children, it offers integral care to patients suffering from various pulmonary conditions, as well as the most advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures. Funded entirely through private donations, the FNC today boasts world-class technology, equipment and infrastructure and a commitment to academic research and partnerships with Colombian institutions of higher education. It is committed to covering the costs of caring for patients from lower socio-economic backgrounds through the income received from fully paying patients.

This year FNC has launched ASMAIRE Infantil, an asthma center dedicated to providing top-quality asthma care for children, conducting cutting-edge scientific research and building community awareness about this respiratory illness. Of the 10.4% of Colombians who have asthma, children and the poor represent an amount disproportionate to their size in the population, with children between 1 and 4 years old comprising 23.4% of all asthma sufferers. Therefore, through ASMAIRE, FNC strives to make sure that children sufferers of asthma and their families, regardless of their economic means, can find the appropriate level of treatment to improve their quality of life and prospects for the future. ASMAIRE operates based on the belief that even though it is not possible to cure asthma, it can be controlled through care and family education; the center emphasizes both components in patients’ treatment. FNC’s vision is to build an institution that will serve as a local and national leader in pediatric asthma care and pulmonary research at a local and national level.

Genesis has awarded a two-year grant for FNC’s ASMAIRE Infantil, to help this medical institution provide new levels of medical service to the Colombian community.
