The Institución Educativa Policarpa Salavarrieta is a large educational institution in Sincelejo, in the state of Sucre in northeast Colombia, a region ridden with conflict from guerrilla and paramilitary groups. The school was inaugurated in 1951 by a group of nuns who saw the need to educate the children affected by violence and provide them with the tools to be productive in a peaceful environment.

Over 2000 children from some of the poorest areas of Sincelejo attend the Policarpa Salavarrieta, where they receive primary, middle and high school education, with an emphasis on information technology and artistic education. The school prides itself on offering high-quality services, despite a lack of resources, and a structured, disciplined and dignified environment for boys and girls to develop their skills.

The Genesis Foundation has provided support for the construction and outfitting of a library that provides resources to both the children in the school and those in the surrounding community.
